Dr. Adam Davis currently serves as the Assistant Percussion Director at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas, where he assists with percussion ensembles, concert bands, and the marching band. During his time at Hebron, the band has been named the Texas UIL 6A State Champion and BOA San Antonio Super Regional Champion. In 2022, the band performed at the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Wind Symphony was selected as the Texas Music Educators Association 6A State Honor Band. As part of his duties, Dr. Davis also coaches students at Creek Valley, Arbor Creek, and Killian Middle Schools. Before coming to Hebron, he previously served on the faculties of Ouachita Baptist University, Henderson State University, and North Central Texas College.

 

A devoted and passionate teacher, Dr. Davis has garnered a reputation for presenting clinics and masterclasses around the United States and abroad. He has presented and performed for students at the Taipei National University of the Arts among many other high schools and universities throughout Taiwan and China. Additionally, he has been a featured clinician at the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association Day of Percussion and the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. With a strong background in a wide range of percussion genres, including Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, South-Indian, Steel Pan, Jazz, Contemporary, Rudimental, and Orchestral, Dr. Davis is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and expertise with students of all levels.

 

A current member of the Lagan Percussion Quartet, Dr. Davis is an advocate of new works for percussion. He has personally commissioned and premiered music from such composers as Alejandro Viñao, Ivan Trevino, Elliot Cole, Nick Werth, Dan Smith, and Corey Robinson, among others. Dr. Davis has been featured as a soloist with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra in Opole, Poland, as well as the Classical Music Institute Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio. He has enjoyed performances at the Leigh Howard Stevens Seminar, Western Colorado Percussion Festival, Round Top Percussion Festival, Fast Forward Austin Festival, Open Space New Music Festival, as well as PASIC, Midwest, and TMEA Conventions.

 

Dr. Davis received his Doctorate in Percussion Performance, with a related field focus on Wind Conducting, from the University of North Texas. He also holds degrees from The University of Texas (MM) and the University of Northern Colorado (BM). His main teachers include Thomas Burritt, Mark Ford, Robert Schietroma, Ed Smith, José Aponte, and Poovalur Sriji and he has studied privately with Leigh Howard Stevens, Michael Spiro, Don Liuzzi, and many others. He is a proud endorser of Innovative Percussion.

Dr. Davis lives in Little Elm, TX with his wife, Nicole, and their dog, Stormy.
